MOSCOW, May 10 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed over telephone with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon the current situation in Syria and ways to overcome the crisis in that country.
“Lavrov confirmed the importance of the UN’s participation in the international efforts to reach political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis in Syria,” the source said.
“He focused on a necessary mobilisation of support, first of all from all groups of Syria’s opposition, on the Russian-American initiative to organise an international conference on the basis of the Geneva Communiqu· of June 30, 2012,” the foreign ministry said.
