CAIRO, May 8 (Itar-Tass) - The agreements reached by Russia and the United States in Moscow are an important and optimistic step, U.N./LAS Special Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi said on Wednesday.
“This is the first step. But for the first time in a long period we get such optimistic information,” Brahimi said.
After the talks with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday, May 7, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia and the United States had agreed to encourage the Syrian authorities and the opposition to take a political decision.
