Ingushetia leaders to be elected by parliament

Twenty-three of 24 deputies voted to support the amendment

NAZRAN, May 8 (Itar-Tass) - Ingush legislators on Wednesday voted for the election of head of the republic by parliament. Twenty-three of 24 deputies voted to support the amendment.

Also on Wednesday, the Ingush parliament approved the 2nd and 3rd readings of the bill on the Ingushetia leader election procedure. The leader is elected from three candidates nominated by the Russian president, in a secret ballot. The candidacy is to be reviewed within 20 days after nomination. The winner is the one who gains a simple majority.

The Ingush parliament comprises 27 legislators.
