MOSCOW, April 30 (Itar-Tass) - Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez will visit Russia till the beginning of summer, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Itar-Tass.

“We believe that the visit will take place till the beginning of summer. There are no grounds for announcing the date because it has not been coordinated yet. The problem will be solved shortly,” Ryabkov said on Tuesday.

“Moscow is optimistic over future relations with Havana,” the deputy foreign minister said.

“Lately serious steps have been taken to strengthen relations. Considerable progress was achieved during Raul Castro’s stay in Moscow in July 2012. The inter-governmental commission held the session. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visited Cuba in February. We expect Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez to visit Russia,” Ryabkov said.

“These are the landmark events in the development of relations. The events allow us to reach agreements to promote bilateral cooperation. Now the Russian State Duma delegation is in Cuba on the visit. Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko is scheduled to visit the country on May 16-17,” the deputy foreign minister stressed.
