MOSCOW, April 24 (Itar-Tass) - Pavel Gusev, editor-in-chief of the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily, was elected chairman of the Defence Ministry’s Public Council on Wednesday, April 24.
His nomination was presented by the Defence Ministry and approved by members of the Council.
“I would like to assure the Defence Ministry and the Public Council that I will exert maximum effort to make the Council strong, mobile and capable of providing all the assistance the Defence Ministry may need. We should create a climate that the Defence Ministry deserves. This is the strongest body in our country and it needs strong public support,” Gusev said.
Three of his deputies were also : General Makhmud Gareyev, president of the Academy of Military Sciences; Alexander Kanshin, a member of the Public Chumber under the President of Russia; Alexander Prokhanov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Zavtra.
