Belarusian President dismisses Energy Minister

Simultaneously, Lukashenko fired First Deputy Minister of Energy, Eduard Tovpenets, and the Director General of the Belenergo state corporation, Alexei Shirma

MINSK, April 18 (Itar-Tass) - President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus has issued a decree dismissing Energy Minister Alexander Ozerets, the presidential press service said.

Simultaneously, Lukashenko fired First Deputy Minister of Energy, Eduard Tovpenets, and the Director General of the Belenergo state corporation, Alexei Shirma.

Tuesday, he leveled sharp criticism at the performance of top executives of the energy sector, saying that “the Energy Ministry has created a state within a state with the elements of a mafia and a gang.”
