Several trains which provided "aeroexpress" rail service to Domodedovo airport have been cancelled

Bridge damaged on Biryulyovo-Domodedovo railroad after a heavy truck ran into a bridge support

MOSCOW, April 10 (Itar-Tass) – A section of a bridge on the Biryulyovo- Domodedovo railroad, which has been damaged after a heavy truck ran into a bridge support, will be replaced, Chief of the Russian Railways company Vladimir Yakunin said at an extended meeting on the company's Board on Wednesday.

As a result of the collision the bridge bent down, Yakunin said. The accident has once again affected the bridge support, he said. The rail track on the bridge has bent 80 centimeters down and shifted. We have been intensively searching for a different bridge section to replace the damaged one, Yakunin said.

The accident which has affected the train schedule will cause delays in the regular rail (aeroexpress) service to Domodedovo airport, he warned.

As a result of the traffic accident which occurred on Starokashirskoye highway last night a heavy truck ran into a bridge support. Railway traffic on the principle track has been halted. Trains have been directed to two bypass routes and have been running according to an alternative schedule.

Several trains which provided "aeroexpress" rail service to Domodedovo airport have been cancelled.

Earlier, a source from the Moscow Railways said that the repairs in the Biryulyovo-Domodedovo section of the railroad were going on. The bridge repairs are expected to be complete by Wednesday night, it said.
