Number of flooded houses in Volga region, Central Russia halves

However, the “emergency regime” is still in effect in nine municipalities of Tatarstan and the Saratov Region

MOSCOW, April 9 (Itar-Tass) – The number of flooded homes In the Volga region and Central Russia has almost halved, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) told Itar-Tass.

“In 11 settlements of the Volga and Central Federal Districts 119 houses with 317 dwellers, as well as 288 private land plots remain flooded,” the source specified. On Monday, 200 houses were flooded.

As of today, 86 people have been resettled to safe places, 29 of them are staying in temporary accommodation centres. “No social facilities have been flooded, the operation of the population’s life support system is not disrupted,” the EMERCOM said.

According to the ministry, the situation has stabilised over the past 24 hours in six populated localities of Tatarstan, the Samara and Penza Regions, where the water has flown away from 104 houses and 161 land plots.

However, the “emergency regime” is still in effect in nine municipalities of Tatarstan and the Saratov Region.
