A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for April 11

KIEV, April 5 (Itar-Tass) - The leaders of Ukraine’s three opposition parties were summoned to court on Friday in connection with attempts to block the parliament’s work, the press service of the UDAR (Punch) party said on Friday.

They include Vitaly Klichko, the leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reforms (UDAR), Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the leader of the Batkivshchina (Fatherland) parliamentary faction, and Oleg Tyagnibok, the leader of the extreme right Svoboda (Freedom) party. They have been summoned to a Kiev district court in connection with an administrative lawsuit filed by Citizen Vera Ivanova. She demanded recognizing as unlawful the actions of the opposition politicians who tried to block the work of Verkhovnaya Rada (parliament).

A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for April 11.

The opposition blocked the work of Ukraine’s legislature in February, March and early April. The opposition deputies claimed that deputies should vote in person and demanded investigation into the case of Yulia Timoshenko’s lawyer Sergei Vlasenko who was stripped of his deputy mandate. Three parliamentary factions also called for resignation of the government led by Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov and for holding elections of Kiev’s mayor on June 2.
