Votes at polling stations in Moscow region town to be verified by recounting

Тhe preliminary results of voting will be known closer to midnight

ZHUKOVSKY, Moscow region, March 31 (Itar-Tass) – Verificatory recounting of votes will be done at several polling stations in the town of Zhukovsky southeast off Moscow where voting in Sunday’s election of the local mayor was done with the aid of automated telling machines, Irel Vildanov, the chairman of the Moscow Region Electoral Commission told reporters Sunday.

A total of 52 polling stations, including the 50 stationery ones fitted out with the telling machines and two provisional ones that should not have electronic vote-telling devices under law were open in the town.

The counting of votes at the latter two stations will be done manually, Vildanov said.

As for the stations equipped with the telling machines, verification through a recounting of votes will be organized at several of them upon the drawing of lots.

“After computers complete the computation, there’ll be a manual recounting at several polling stations,” he said.

Vildanov also said the preliminary results of voting will be known closer to midnight.
