MOSCOW, March 24 (Itar-Tass) – The snowpack became seven centimetres deeper in the Moscow Region from the start of a heavy snowfall on Saturday evening, the Moscow department over the housing and public utility sector and urban development told Itar-Tass on Sunday.
The emergency specialists expect that this snow level will grow up by another 20 centimetres in the near future.
“As many as 15,000 units of special machinery, which are removing the snow on the roads, walkways and in the courtyards, are working,” the department said. The department noted that the whole fleet of snow-removing machinery was put on the round-the-clock working schedule.
Meanwhile, about 12,600 people, who are united in 3,600 brigades, are cleaning up the roofs from the snow. Over 8,000 people (1,800 brigades) are cleaning up the walkways. As many as 36,000 janitors are working in the courtyards.
