Pres says RF, China should concentrate efforts on trade, economic ties

“We have come close to the figure of 90 billion dollars in trade and it keeps growing,” the president added

MOSCOW, March 22 (Itar-Tass) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to concentrate efforts of the two countries on the development of trade, economic ties.

“In order to maintain the pace (in the development of ties) we must concentrate efforts on certain directions, and economic ties is one of them,” Putin said in the opening remarks at talks in an expanded format.

“We have come close to the figure of 90 billion dollars in trade and it keeps growing,” the president added.

The Chinese president, for his part, said “I hope we will manage to give a powerful impetus to Russian-Chinese relations.”

“Our countries enjoy mature and lasting political relations,” Xi Jinping said. “At the next stage we must put an emphasis on strengthening mutual political support, enhancing efforts towards defense of sovereignty, deepening cooperation in the settlement of international and regional issues and developing cooperation in practical spheres,” he added.
