Duma intends to require Public Chamber members to declare their incomes

"It is fundamentally important for us that the Public Chamber consists of people with sterling honesty," Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Zheleznyak said

MOSCOW, March 18 (Itar-Tass) – State Duma deputies intend to amend the draft law setting a new mechanism for forming the Public Chamber to require its members to declare their incomes and expenditures.

“When preparing for a second reading we will submit an amendment requiring Public Chamber members to declare their incomes and expenditures because it is fundamentally important for us that the Public Chamber serves as a yardstick for expressing people’s opinion and consists of people with sterling honesty who will not use this high position for lobbying their commercial interests,” Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Zheleznyak of United Russia said on Monday, March 18.

He expects the draft law to be submitted to a plenary session of the Duma and considered in the first reading on Tuesday, March 19.
