Three militants killed in Kabardino-Balkaria

The regime of anti-terrorist operation was introduced in the town of Baksan

NALCHIK, March 12 (Itar-Tass) – At least three militants were killed in the outskirts of the village of Baksanyonok, Baksan district of Kabardino-Balkaria on Tuesday morning, a law-enforcement source told Itar-Tass.

"The gunmen were driving in two cars; they ignored the demand to show their IDs and opened fire," the law-enforcement officer said.

Both cars caught fire in a shootout, one of them exploded, and at least three men in the cars were destroyed.

Police sealed off the area. The identification of the gunmen is underway.

The regime of anti-terrorist operation was introduced in the town of Baksan in the area limited by Lenin Avenue and Shukov, Karachayev, Kremenchugskaya and Proyektiruyemaya Streets at 00:30, Moscow time, on Tuesday, the republic's operations headquarters reported.
