RF needs traditional values strengthening-UR Gen Council Secretary

Neverov also does not hide that Putin remains an unofficial leader for the party

MOSCOW, March 4 (Itar-Tass) – The wave around the ban on foreign adoptions is a real and not an imaginary sore point, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party Sergei Neverov is certain.

“The society today has a major need for strengthening the traditional values ··that have been formed in Russia for centuries. And most of the decisions made by the authorities, including the legislative, are made with this end in view,” he said in an interview published by the Moskosvky Komsomolets (MK) newspaper on Monday. “Why such a wave has arisen around the ban on foreign adoptions, the issue of orphanage in general? Because a real and not an imaginary sore point has been opened.”

The interview is timed to 12 months of presidency of Vladimir Putin who after a four-year break was again elected the country’s president in March 4, 2012 elections in which he was supported by 64 percent of eligible voters.

“Putin has repeatedly demonstrated through deeds that it is possible to rely on him and that he can pull the country out of the abyss, can always stay with his people,” Neverov said.

The secretary of United Russia’s General Council believes that at the current the main task of the authorities should be building a state based on the legal and moral values. “In short, it is the building of a state governed by the rule of law, where morality and ethics play a key role, and the economy of which is oriented towards its own people, and not towards the financial markets of other countries,” he explained.

“Religion, morality issues are of the same kind,” Neverov added, noting that “all of them at the suggestion of Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) are currently in the focus of the government and civil society.” “The search for optimal solutions is underway,” he stressed.

Among the important results of the year the representative of the ruling party leadership also named “the establishment of clear rules for all the players of the socio-political process.” He recalled the laws aimed at fighting corruption and control over spending of officials, even the ban on foreign assets, initiated by the RF head of state. “But even this is not the main thing. The morals, ethics standards are coming to the forefront along with the provisions of the law,” the politician said.

United Russia is currently headed by RF Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev. Neverov also does not hide that Putin remains an unofficial leader for the party. “Vladimir Vladimirovich is our moral leader. It is thanks to him that United Russia was created, 11 years ago, the country’s three leading political forces united around him in order to try to change life in Russia for the better,” he said, recalling that “Mr Medvedev’s candidacy for the post of the party chairman was nominated by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.”

Neverov remembers the evening of March 4, 2012 as he was present at a meeting on the occasion of Putin’s election. “I had not seen for a long time such enthusiasm, pride for my country. And these emotions just could not but be passed to everyone who came there,” he admitted. “It was at that point that I clearly realised that everything we do meets the needs of the people and the country.”
