HANOI, March 4 (Itar-Tass) – Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu arrived in Vietnam on an official visit on Monday.
Shoigu started his visit by attending the Cam Ranh Bay naval base. The Russian delegation also attended a memorial in honour of Soviet, Russian and Vietnamese servicemen and civilians. The monument to those who gave their lives on duty is built on the area of Cam Ranh International Airport.
On Tuesday, Shoigu will hold talks with his Vietnamese counterpart, General Fung Kwan Thani, visit the Russian-Vietnamese Tropical Centre and meet President Truong Tan Sang. During the consultations, the high-ranking officials will exchange views on a wide range of issues and discuss further development of military and military-technical cooperation.
