Sergei Velmyaikin appointed as first deputy minister of labour, social security

He is one of authors of the anti-tobacco law

MOSCOW, March 4 (Itar-Tass) – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev appointed Sergei Velmyaikin, who occupied the post of the deputy health minister, as First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security on Monday.

“To appoint Sergei Fyodorovich Velmyaikin as First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, relieving him from the previous post,” the prime minister said in a resolution, which was made public at the official website of the Russian government.

Sergei Velmyaikin is one of authors of the anti-tobacco law, which raised heated debates and which bans smoking gradually at public venues and imposes sanctions against the producers of cigarettes.
