3rd meeting of Russia, Georgia officials to be held late May

This is the first direct dialogue of officials of the two countries (without mediators) since 2008

TBILISI, March 4 (Itar-Tass) – The third meeting of the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Georgia on the relationship with Russia Zurab Abashidze with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin will “most likely, again be held in Prague,” Abashidze told Itar-Tass in Tbilisi. According to him, the meeting will supposedly be held in late May.

Their first meeting was held on December 14, 2012 in the suburbs of Geneva, the second - in Prague on March 1. This is the first direct dialogue of officials of the two countries (without mediators) since 2008.

According to Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, “the meeting of Abashidze and Karasin play a positive role in the normalisation of relations between the two countries.” They discuss issues of reconstruction and development of the bilateral commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
