MOSCOW, March 2 (Itar-Tass) – Around 1,000 Muscovites have gathered on Moscow’s Sakharov Prospect to defend their social rights.
Among the action’s activists are State Duma legislator Ilya Ponomarev and members of the Opposition Coordination Council Nikolai Bondarik and Akim Talchayev.
The rally mainly highlights social problems Moscow’s residents face with, including housing and utilities, education and healthcare.
“We discuss here real, pressing problems,” said Ponomarev.
The action’s organizers applied for up to 5,000 demonstrators.
The march had been announced by opposition leader, Left Front head Sergei Udaltsov, who was placed under home arrest, and Ilya Ponomarev from A Just Russia faction.
