27 workers hospitalized after chlorine leakage in Berezniki

The accident occurred at the Soda Khlorad plant

MOSCOW, March 1 (Itar-Tass) -Thirty workers have suffered from chlorine emission in Berezniki, the Perm Territory, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said.

Thirty people needed medical care. Twenty seven were hospitalized, the ministry reported.

According to the information of the Emergencies Ministry's Perm regional department, chlorine leaked from the outside synthesis system at Shop 13 that produces liquid chlorine.

There is no chlorine leakage at present. There is no gas in the air, and it is not dangerous, the regional department assured.

The air has been tested for chlorine concentration. It is within the normal level. There is no smell of chlorine in the air.

The accident occurred at the Soda Khlorad plant in the city of Berezniki on Friday morning.

The investigative authorities have launched an inquiry into the case.
