Russian-Ukrainian summit may be held in March – Russian ambassador in Kiev

Zurabov noted that both Russia and Ukraine had intensified bilateral contacts since the start of 2013

KIEV, February 27 (Itar-Tass) - A Russian-Ukrainian summit may take place in March, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov told journalists on Wednesday.

“I expect to get the exact information about the high-level political meeting soon. I think that the summit will take place in March,” Zurabov said.

Zurabov noted that both Russia and Ukraine had intensified bilateral contacts since the start of 2013.

“Representatives of the Russian and Ukrainian Foreign Ministries met in Odessa early this year. Prior to that, the Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers, Sergei Lavrov and Leonid Kozhara, had met in Chernovtsy,” Zurabov went on to say. He added that the Ukrainian foreign minister is expected to visit Moscow on March 29 while Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has recently met his Ukrainian counterpart Pavel Lebedev in Ukraine.
