MOSCOW, February 27 (Itar-Tass) – The build-up of the defensive potential is the top priority for the Russian Defence Ministry, but several trends in the construction of the Russian Armed Forces need adjustment, Defence Minister General Sergei Shoigu said in his main report at an enlarged meeting of the Defence Ministry board with the participation of President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
In particular, the minister noted that the Defence Ministry has developed optimal proposals over the deployment system of the Armed Forces. The development plan of the military townships was worked out and is being fulfilled for 2013-2014 and for a future period until 2017, meanwhile, the document has concrete deadlines and resources. The military command system in the Armed Forces is being improved. “For the first time in the Defence Ministry it is planned to create a vertically integrated multilevel system of automated control,” Shoigu noted.
He noted that the Defence Ministry has deployed the centres of combat command and control over the daily activities of the Armed Forces. “This system embraces all levels of command and permits to coordinate the efforts between 49 ministries and agencies, which are fulfilling the Russian Defence Plan,” the minister stated.
In his words, the basics of the combat training system were specified. To this effect the main combat training department of the Russian Armed Forces and the institute of warrant officers and midshipmen were revived.
