MOSCOW, February 26 (Itar-Tass) – The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed that an incident occurred at a Russian Air Force base near Voronezh on Monday night.
“Duty officers discovered smoke contamination in the territory of a military unit and called in fire crews that quickly suppressed the smoke,” the Russian Defense Ministry reports.
Earlier, an army source told Itar-Tass that boxes with insensitive munitions went ablaze at the Baltimore military airfield in Voronezh at 22:05 Moscow time on Monday. The blaze spread to an area of 70 square meters. It took 32 minutes to extinguish the fire. The army sources emphasized that the fire hadn’t caused any explosions and that there was no threat to the population.
