Yevkurov informs Putin on Ingushetia’s socioeconomic development, progress in security issues

MOSCOW, February 25 (Itar-Tass) – Head of the Republic of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov has informed Russian President Vladimir Putin on the situation in the republic, pointing to the progress in the security sphere and socio-economic development.

“In all, those positive changes in the economy, social sphere, moral and spiritual area, which have occurred in the republic recently, made it possible to improve and stabilise the situation considerably,” the head of the republic said during his meeting with the Russian president on Monday.

“Owing to joint efforts with the federal centre and other structures, we managed to improve the criminal atmosphere. So, the total number of crimes went down by 7.4 percent in 2012, while the number terrorism crimes decreased by 50 percent and the number of gravest crimes dropped by 70 percent,” Yevkurov said.

Touching upon the economic aspects, the head of the republic stated that the Gross Regional Production (GRP) has grown by 39 percent since 2009. “In 2012, we achieved the GRP level at about 10.2 percent,” he said.

In Yevkurov’s words, the total amount of tax and non-tax revenues in the republican budget grew to three billion roubles (USD 1 = RUB 30.34) in 2012 from one billion roubles in 2008.

“In general, we are in the top three Russia’s leading regions in terms of the hike of our own revenues,” Yevkurov said. “We managed to decrease the republic’s dependence on the [federal] government’s subsidies from 94 percent in 2008 to 84.5 percent in 2012,” he added.

The head of the Republic of Ingushetia also informed the Russian president on the growth of investments from 400 million roubles in 2008 to 4.3 billion roubles in 2012. In his words, that such a result became possible owing to the implementation of several big projects.

According to Yevkurov, the republican inflation rate amounted to 3.9 percent in the period under review, as compared to 6.3 percent in general across the country.

“We have no growth of the unemployment rate,” he told Putin. “We have already decreased the officially registered unemployment rate by about six percent and the total level of the unemployment rate by seven percent,” the head of the republic said. “Up to date, the republic’s total unemployment rate is estimated at 47 percent, while the level of the officially registered unemployment rate is at 16 percent,” he said, adding that in 2008 and 2009, the indicators many-fold exceeds the aforesaid indices.

In his words, wages of teachers in the Republic of Ingushetia were raised to 100 percent of the economy’s average level as of January 1, 2013 to make up 17,477 roubles a month.

Touching upon the public health sector, Yevkurov reaffirmed that “the republic faced certain problems with the sector’s e-modernization in November, but we managed to improve the situation.” “In general, now everything all right,” the head of the Republic of Ingushetia stated.
