Heating, water supplies restored in 19 residential houses in frost-stricken Tiksi in Yakutia

Tiksi is built on the coast of the Arctic Ocean and about 10,000 people live in the settlement

VLADIVOSTOK, February 24 (Itar-Tass) – The heating and water supplies were restored at 19 residential houses (81 flats) in the Yakutia’s settlement Tiksi by Sunday.

The heating supply has been disrupted in the settlement over a breakdown at the boiler house since February 6, the residents of right 32 residential houses (158 flats) were left without heating supply in Tiksi ten days ago. These residential houses make 75% of all housing in the settlement.

The restoration works are to be done at 13 residential houses (77 flats), the press service of the emergency situation department in the Republic Sakha (Yakutia) reported.

The air temperature is minus 26 degrees Celsius in Tiksi on Sunday. When the boiler house broke down, the air temperature was minus 49 degrees Celsius.
