MOSCOW, February 22 (Itar-Tass) - Norilsk's airport is closed because of the bad weather conditions, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's National Centre for Crisis Management told Itar-Tass.
“The work of Norilsk airport is halted this Friday because of the weather conditions. Five flights are delayed at the departure airports,” a source at the centre said.
The fights are expected to arrive on February 23.
There are no delayed planes and waiting passengers at Norilsk airport.
As was reported earlier this Friday, a strong wind and a snowstorm in Norilsk, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, caused delays of five flights. Passengers in Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Yekaterinburg were waiting for their flights to the Arctic city, and two flights were delayed in Moscow.
Gusts of wind will reach 20-27 m/sec with 25-degree frost in Norilsk and surrounding areas this Friday, the city's department for emergencies warned.
Children were allowed not to go to school.
Visibility on the roads was less than one km, traffic police said.
Drivers were recommended not to go in personal cars onto the Norilsk-Talnakh road. The Storm headquarters decided to close the Norilsk-Kayerkan- Alykel-Dudinka road for all kinds of transport. Bus service between Norilsk and Alykel airport was halted. Buses moved between Norilsk and Kayerkan in convoys.
The city's authorities recommended organizations and schools to have a day off.
