NOVO OGARYOVO, February 20 (Itar-Tass) – The Kremlin is against the ban to adopt Russian children by foreigners, besides U.S. citizens, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.
“There are no problems with other countries. They can address Russia,” Peskov said.
Peskov commented on the proposals to ban the adoption of Russian children by all foreigners.
On January 1, 2013 the Dima Yakovlev Law came into effect in Russia. The law bans U.S. citizens, without any exception, to adopt Russian children. The law aroused a patchy response in the society. State Duma lawmakers referred to the cases of violence on Russian orphans, who had been adopted by Americans.
