Police search St Petersburg’s Committee on entrepreneurship development

The police do not rule out the committee’s staff might have been involved in the fraud

ST. PETERSBURG, February 19 (Itar-Tass) – The police continue searches at the Committee on development of entrepreneurship and consumer market at St. Petersburg’s government in the framework of the investigation into a fraud to receive subsidies for small businesses, St. Petersburg and Leningrad region’s police told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The police do not rule out the committee’s staff might have been involved in the fraud.

“The investigative measures are organised in the framework of the criminal case initiated on January11, 2013 against a director general of a commercial company. The businessman is suspected of a crime, where in 2012 he on behalf of his company presented to the committee of St. Petersburg’s government a set of forged documents to apply for a subsidy of 300,000 roubles in state support for small and medium businesses,” the police said.

On January 28, the police initiated other proceedings on similar charges.

“The police have identified organisers of those crimes. They are two 27 year-old men born in the Pskov region, who, the investigators say, had an agreement with unidentified officials of the Committee on development of entrepreneurship and consumer market at St. Petersburg’s government to receive budget funds,” the police said.
