Police discovered huge arms and ammunition cache in Chechnya

Police confiscated 25 hand-held grenade launchers, 6 shots and the same number of powder charges to them, two machine-guns, two submachine-guns

MOSCOW, February 17 (Itar-Tass) – Police in Chechnya have found a huge arms cache with weapons and ammunition that used to belong to Husein Gakayev, the destroyed chieftain of illegal armed groups, the Russian Interior Ministry press center reported on Sunday.

“Police confiscated 25 hand-held grenade launchers, 6 shots and the same number of powder charges to them, two machine-guns, two submachine-guns, about 2,300 cartridges as well as 4 camouflaged ransacks, 7 ammunition vests and battery charges for radio stations,” the Russian Interior Ministry said.

The cache was discovered in a mountainous forest area 600 meters to the north from Elistanzhi village in the Vedensky district of Chechnya.
