MOSCOW, February 14 (Itar-Tass) - Russian counterintelligence officers in 2012 exposed 34 career officers and 181 agents of foreign secret services, of whom 12 were caught red-handed, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday at a meeting of the board of the Federal Security Service.
“Counterintelligence is a key area of work of the Federal Security Service,” he stressed.
“The targets of espionage activities are promising Russian technologies and developments, plans for the development of the armed forces and the defence sector, important political and economic data,” he noted.
