MAKHACHKALA, February 14 (Itar-Tass) – Civil casualties are averted in a terrorist act thanks to the vigilance of the policemen at a road police post on the road leading to the Dagestani city Khasavyurt, the press service of the Dagestani Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
Three policemen on mission from the Volgograd regional police department died of wounds instantaneously at the suicide bomb blast site during the identity check of the driver of a car, reportedly Lada-Priora. The killed police officers are Warrant Officer of Police Sergei Solodyagin, Senior Sergeant of Police Alexander Onkin and Senior Sergeant of Police Denis Dmitriyev. Six policemen were hospitalized with different wounds, one more policeman is reported missing.
The detectives found that “it is hard to say anything about the suicide bomber so far, because the blast had a large blast power and the parts of the car were scattered hundred metres away from the blast epicentre.” The team of detectives keeps working at the suicide bomb attack site.
The explosion at the road police post in Khasavyurt was found to be a terrorist act. The criminal case was opened for the crimes under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code for a terrorist act, Article 317 for an attempt on the life of law enforcers, Article 222 for illegal circulation of weapons and Article 223 for illegal making of explosive devices.
The investigation actions are being taken to find all the details of the crime and the criminals involved in the terrorist act. An expertise to find the blast power of the explosive device and forensic expertises were scheduled. The road police patrols were reinforced and all cars are being checked thoroughly on all the roads leading to and from Khasavyurt. “The police were put on high alert over a major terrorist act in the republic,” the Dagestani Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
