3 policemen killed, six injured, fate of one policeman unclear in suicide bomb attack in Dagestan

The bomb blast created a hole of up to four metres in diameter and up to 1.5 metres deep

MOSCOW, February 14 (Itar-Tass) – Three policemen were killed and six more policemen were injured in a suicide bomb attack, which was committed at a road police post in Dagestan.

The criminal case is being investigated under Article 205 for a terrorist act, Article 222 for illegal circulation of weapons and Article 223 of the Russian Criminal Code for illegal making of weapons, the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

“During the check of the car the driver detonated an explosive device with a large blast power at about five hours in the morning on Thursday at a road police post on the road leading to Khasavyurt from Makhachkala. Three policemen were killed, six more policemen were hospitalized with different wounds, a policeman is reported missing after the suicide bomb attack. The road police post and the police cars were damaged,” the Russian Investigation Committee said, adding that injured and killed policemen were on military service mission from the police department in the Volgograd Region.

The bomb blast created a hole of up to four metres in diameter and up to 1.5 metres deep. An expertise to find the power of the explosive device and forensic expertises were scheduled.

“The investigating actions are being taken to investigate all the details of the crime and find criminals involved in the crime,” the Investigation Committee said in conclusion.
