MOSCOW, February 11 (Itar-Tass) - President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Russia's Buddhists on the Sagaalgan Feast marking the advent of the Lunar New Year.
"The White Month Feast, which marks the advent of the Lunar New Year, has ancient and fine traditions which have become an integral part of the wealth of spiritual and cultural heritage of our multi-ethnic Motherland. It embodies the purity of thoughs and deeds, renewal and prosperity; symbolizes the person's love for the native land and its shrines," says a contratulatory message the text of which is posted on the Kremlin website.
"It is gratifying that Buddhist religious organizations actively participate in the life of our country, and make a tangible contribution to the refinement of sprititual,moral and patriotic upbringing of young people, and to the development of the interconfessional dialogue," the Head of State pointed out. "And, of course, their activities are highly important for maintaining interethnic peace and civic accord in society".
