Prokhorov to run for president of Russian Biathlon Union in April

Prokhorov has been heading the Russian Biathlon Union since October 2008

NOVE MESTO (Czech Republic), February 10 (Itar-Tass) – Russian businessman Mikhail Prokhorov will run for president of the Russian Biathlon Union for another four-year term in April.

“The Russian Biathlon Union will hold a meeting in April that will hear reports and elect new officials,” Prokhorov, who’s attending the World Biathlon Championship in Nove Mesto (the Czech Republic), told Itar-Tass.

“Four years have passed since the last elections. New officials should be elected according to the Union’s charter. I am going to nominate my candidacy. Am I doing it for no good reason? I don’t know. I am ready for competition. It’s my pleasure,” Prokhorov said.

Prokhorov has been heading the Russian Biathlon Union since October 2008. He replaced four-time Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov in this post.
