MOSCOW, February 9 (Itar-Tass) – One in fourteen road accidents last year was due to drunk driving, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev told a meeting of the ministry’s board on Friday.
The rate of road accidents remains high, he said. Last year alone road accidents left 28,000 people dead and over 258,000 others injured.
“Many road accidents involving drunk drivers, and also drivers without licenses or stripped of the right to drive often result in deaths. Last year one in fourteen road accidents was due to drunk driving,” Kolokoltsev said.
