MOSCOW, February 8 (Itar-Tass) – The Bolshoi Theatre may sue its soloist Nikolai Tsiskaridze over his recent scandalous BBC interview, Katerina Novikova, the Bolshoi’s spokeswoman, told Itar-Tass on Friday.

“At present, the Bolshoi Theatre’s lawyers are studying Nikolai Tsikardize’s remarks. After that, they will decide whether a lawsuit should be filed against the dancer to protect the theatre’s business reputation,” Novikova said.

In his interview, Tsikaridze accused the Bolshoi’s administration in creating the atmosphere of Stalinist repressions and urged the Russian government to sack the theatre’s leadership.

It’s not the first time that Tsiskaridze attacks the theatre in which he serves and its leadership. The situation became worse after the recent unprecedented attack on Sergei Filin, the artistic director of the Bolshoi ballet company.

On January 17, unknown persons threw acid in Filin’s face outside his Moscow home. Filin underwent several operations in Moscow and is now staying in Germany for further treatment.
