MOSCOW, February 8 (Itar-Tass) – Over the past year, the police revealed 45,000 corruption crimes, Russia’s Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev said on Friday.
He said in the sphere of fighting the corruption the main efforts of the police had been aimed at stopping and prevention of most big, system corruption crimes, including those involving high-ranking officials.
“Criminal proceedings were begun against over 10,000 persons,” the minister said.
“Despite the results we have achieved, it is necessary to raise effectiveness of the measures undertaken here,” Kolokoltsev said. “This is the only way we shall be able to fulfil the tasks set by the president to provide appropriate conditions for improvement of the country’s social and economic development, of higher living standards for our people.
