MAKHACHKALA, February 6 (Itar-Tass) – A gunman, who put up armed resistance to the law enforcers, was destroyed in a special operation in the outskirts of Kadyrkent in the Sergokali district of Dagestan on Wednesday.
“An unidentified gunman, who opened fire from the pistol at the law enforcers, was detected at about 02:30 Moscow time on Wednesday in the forest,” an official in the Dagestani investigation department of the Russian Investigation Committee told Itar-Tass. He was destroyed in the retaliatory fire. The pistol and a grenade were found on him.
No law enforcers were injured. The destroyed gunman is being identified. According to the preliminary reports, he is a resident of Verkhniye Ubeki in the Levashi district of the republic.
The legal regime of the anti-terrorist operation was introduced at 04:30 Moscow time on Wednesday in Novy Kostek in the Khasavyurt district, the emergency headquarters in Dagestan reported. “The law enforcement agencies are carrying out a special operation in the village,” a source said. The regime of the anti-terrorist operation will be in effect until the special orders to lift it.
