MOSCOW, February 4 (Itar-Tass) – In January 2013, 71.8 million passengers departed from Russian Railways’ stations, 1.6 percent more than in January 2012. Long-distance passenger numbers were down 3.3 percent to 8.8 million, while suburban services saw an increase of 2.3 percent to 63 million passengers, the company said.
Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways’ network in January 2013 fell by 2.6 percent compared to January 2012 to 10.1 billion passenger-kilometres, including 8 billion long-distance passengers, a decline of 3.5 percent, and suburban passengers, whose numbers increased by 0.9 percent to 2.1 billion.
