Putin ratifies Russia-EEC Commission Agreement

As per Article 34 of the said Agreement, the Commission is located in Moscow

MOSCOW, February 3 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s President Vladimir Putin inked a federal law on ratification of the Agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Commission on terms and conditions of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s presence in the territory of the Russian Federation, the president’s official site reports.

The State Duma passed the federal law on January 18, 2013, and the Federation Council followed suit on January 23, 2013.

The Agreement is aimed at implementation of the Agreement on the Eurasian Economic Commission of November 18, 2011, which organises the Eurasian Economic Commission as a single permanent regulating body of the Customs Union and of the Common Economic Space.

As per Article 34 of the said Agreement, the Commission is located in Moscow, and terms and conditions for the Commission’s and its representations’ presence are to be stipulated by separate international agreements between the Commission and the countries of presence.

The Agreement is aimed at organisation of proper conditions for presence and activities of the Commission in the territory of the Russian Federation for the purposes of effective functioning and development of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space.
