MOSCOW, January 30 (Itar-Tass) – President Vladimir Putin said religious radicals of different confessions had stepped up actions.

Speaking at a meeting with the plenipotentiary representatives to the federal districts on Wednesday, Putin said it was necessary to strengthen inter-ethnic and inter-confessional accord.

“Inter-ethnic harmony should be permanently backed. The latest events prove that religious radicals of various hues and various confessions step up their actions. You know about murders and murderous attempts on Islamic clergy. In fact a terrorist war was unleashed against Moslems. Attempts are made to scare them and deprive the right to talk with believers. On the contrary, people are imposed false truth, which is nothing in common with Islam,” Putin stressed.

“As for attempts to scare Moslems, I’m sure that those who try to do this will fail because Moslem clergy serve God and people. It is impossible to scare them. It is obvious that they are needed our support and assistance. And it should be effective,” the president pointed out.

He recalled that the strategy on state national policy had been approved in December 2012. “Much should be done. The strategy can be implemented only due to the joint actions by the federal centre and regions of the Russian Federation. Plenipotentiary representative should play an important role. It is necessary to thoroughly study the situation in regions and realise what people are concerned about. And then concrete decisions should be taken,” Putin said.
