Abdulatipov to be officially introduced to Dagestan govt Wed

MAKHACHKALA, January 30 (Itar-Tass) - Ramazan Abdulatipov, a Member of the State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament from the United Russia party (URP), will be officially introduced here on Wednesday as acting Head of the Republic of Dagestan to the government, parliament and the heads of municipal entiities of the Republiv, an official in the press service of the Dagestani leadership told Itar-Tass.

On January 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a Decree appoining Abdulatipov as acting Head of the Repulbic. The Head of State also signed Decrees terminating the powers of Magomedsalam Magomedov as Head of Dagestan and appointing him to be deputy head of the RFpresidential administration. Magomedov has been the Head of Dagestan since February 2010.

Abdulatipov has told Itar-Tass that he believes in the creative human potential of Dagestan and that he intends to cosolidate sound forces in the Republic. "I intend to fight unemployment and corruption, and make every effort to ensure security in the region. My credo in the process will be honesty and integrity," he stated.

Ramazan Abdulatipov was born in Gerguta Village, Tlyaratin District of the Dagestan ASSR on August 4, 1946. In 1975 he graduated from the History Department of Dagestan State University. In 1978 he completed a post-graduate course at Philosophy Department of Leningrad State University. Professor Abdulatipov has a PhD in philosophy. He is a Member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of the RF, has a diploatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. In the 1998-1999 period he was the RF Minister of the Nationalities Policy.

In December 2011, Abdulatipov was elected a Deputy to the 6th State Duma of the RF. He is a member of the URP faction. Since January 2012 he has been deputy chairman of the State Duma committee on Federal and local self-government affairs.
