Razvozzhayev refuses to get treatment at hospital in detention centre

A bullet, which has been stuck near the spine of Razvozzhayev for more than 20 years, was found in his medical examination

IRKUTSK, January 29 (Itar-Tass) – Aide of the State Duma deputy Leonid Razvozzhayev, who is accused of masterminding massive disorders, refused to get treatment at the hospital of the Irkutsk detention centre number one, where he was brought in the previous week over his health problems, the press service of the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

The defendant and his lawyers complained about the health problems to the regional deputy prosecutor before, as well as during a video teleconference with the Moscow City Court. The Irkutsk detention centre stated then that they cannot respond to such statements and decided to hospitalize the defendant.

“Razvozzhayev was prescribed a diagnostic and treatment course for two weeks. He filed a written petition to refuse from this course and does not accept any treatment,” the press service said.

Lawyer Dmitry Agranovsky stated earlier that his client “strongly opposed the hospitalization and demands an immediate return to Moscow.” The regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service stated on Tuesday that “last Friday the detention centre has made a request to the Russian Investigation Committee, but no orders were made over further actions regarding Razvozzhayev yet.”

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that a bullet, which has been stuck near the spine of Razvozzhayev for more than 20 years, was found in his medical examination.

Four criminal cases were opened against the aide to the State Duma deputy over the masterminding of massive disorders on the basis of the materials showed in the documentary Anatomy of Protest-2, illegal border transgression, false denunciation over his statements about alleged tortures against him and over the banditry, which he committed in Angarsk in 1997. However, Razvozzhayev was arrested on the accusation of masterminding massive disorders.
