Car driven by drunk policeman collides with two cars, trolleybus

The accident occurred near Building 8 on Leninsky Avenue at 08:00 on Saturday

MOSCOW, January 26 (Itar-Tass) - A police officer driving a Land Rover rammed into two cars and a trolleybus in Moscow. One died in the accident, a source of the Russian Interior Ministry's press centre told Itar-Tass.

The accident occurred near Building 8 on Leninsky Avenue at 08:00 on Saturday. The head of a duty group of the Interior Ministry's Special Purpose Centre, driving his personal Land Rover, lost control of the car, got onto the oncoming traffic lane and collided with two cars and a trolleybus. One person died in the accident.

According to the preliminary information, the policeman was in a drunken state. The driver is detained.

The officer and the head of his department will be dismissed from the police service. The deputy department head for personnel and educational work will be demoted. The head of the personnel department, the head of the unit and his deputy for work with personnel have received reprimands.
