One dead, ten teenagers injured as school bus rams motor car in Sverdlovsk region

Both vehicles caught fire after the collision

YEKATERINBURG, January 25 (Itar-Tass) — One man died and ten children were injured as a school bus rammed a motor car in the Sverdlovsk region, a spokesman for the regional emergencies department told Itar-Tass on Friday.

According to the spokesman, the accident took place at about 14:00 local time (12:00 Moscow time) at the 56th kilometer of the Yekaterinburg-Chernousovo motor road. The bus was carrying 12 schoolchildren aged from 14 to 15 from the settlement of Chernousovo to Yekaterinburg, where they were supposed to take part in sports competitions. The bus collided with a VAZ-2109 car. Both vehicles caught fire after the collision. Children were evacuated from the bus. Ten of them received minor injuries. The VAZ car driver died of burns in hospital.

An investigation is underway.
