Fire extinguished at oil storage facilities in Yakutia

Twenty cubic/m of fuel in a gasoline tank of 3,000-cubic/m volume caught fire at the site

KHABAROVSK, January 25 (Itar-Tass) — A fire at the Sakhaneftegazsbyt oil storage facilities in Yakutia was extinguished in an hour. One man was hurt -- a driver of a gasoline-carrying vehicle received burns. He is hospitalized, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Far Eastern regional centre told Itar-Tass.

Twenty cubic/m of fuel in a gasoline tank of 3,000-cubic/m volume caught fire at the site. Fuel leaked from the damaged tank, but firefighters at the facilities and firemen who arrived at the site from the republic's base of firefighters prevented the flame from spreading to nearby oil tanks.

There is no threat to residential areas and the infrastructure.

The blaze was fought by 52 people with the use of 15 units of fire engines and other equipment.

The fire broke out at the oil storage facilities of the Sakhneftegazsbyt company in the Yakut settlement of Zhatai at 10:59 local time (04:59 Moscow time) on Friday. The entire oil tank was ablaze. Fuel spilt from the damaged tank over an area of 120 sq m.
