MOSCOW, January 24 (Itar-Tass) — The Moscow City Court on Wednesday upheld the arrest of former deputy regional development minister, Perm Territory Prime Minister Roman Panov, accused of the embezzlement of funds allocated for preparations of the APEC summit in Vladivostok in September 2012.
An appeals board, after reviewing the petition by Panov's lawyers, said the ruling on his arrest was legal and justified.
Police earlier said a number of officials from the Regional Development Ministry, including Panov, were suspected of stealing more than 93 million roubles from federal coffers.
