MOSCOW, January 23 (Itar-Tass) — Russia will be retaliating for unfriendly steps taken by the United States, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference on Wednesday.
“There are difficult issues in our relations with the United States,” he said, adding that missile defense matters were among them.
“Very well known are the negative effects that followed the adoption of the notorious Magnitsky Act. In fact, the anti-Soviet Jackson-Vanik amendment has been replaced with an anti-Russian law,” Lavrov said.
“Of course, we shall continue to retaliate unfriendly steps no matter what, but our position rests upon the readiness for the further development of Russian-US relations in all directions,” he said.
