Passenger train collides with truck in Irkutsk region

No people injured

MOSCOW, January 22 (Itar-Tass) — A passenger train collided with a truck in the Irkutsk Region, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.

“A passenger train collided at 13:50 Moscow time with a truck in the Nizhneudinsky district in the Irkutsk Region. No people were killed and injured in the railway incident,” a source in the ministry said.

The delay of two passenger trains caused the railway incident. The restoration works are in progress.

Meanwhile, the Irkutsk regional emergency situation department reported that the train was en route from Abakan to Irkutsk. “After the collision the set of wheels of the locomotive derailed,” a source in the regional emergencies department said.

The reports are being specified about the damaged railway track and the railway power line.

This is already the third railway incident between a freight train and a car on Tuesday. The freight train collided with a Toyota car, killing four passengers of the car, on the manually controlled, but unguarded railway crossing near Zakharovo in the Altai Territory earlier on Tuesday. A freight train collided with a Zhiguli car, which was driving on the banning train traffic lights through the railway crossing, that killed a passenger of the car and the driver was hospitalised after this railway incident.
