MOSCOW, January 17 (Itar-Tass) - The woman wounded in central Moscow during the assassination of criminal leader Aslan Usoyan, is in very serious condition, the city health care department told Itar-Tass.
"The woman is in critical condition," medics said.
The victim was hospitalized with two gunshot wounds to the Sklifasovksy emergency medicine hospital and operated upon.
Skifasovsky hospital personnel said she is in an IT ward connected to a lung ventilation unit. She underwent lung wound closure and thigh wound surgery. "She has grave lung and backbone wounds and damaged spinal cord," the medics said.
Criminal leader Aslan Usoyan, also known as Ded Khasan, was gunned down by professional killer in Povarskaya Street on January 16, as he was emerged from a restaurant. The Investigative Committee said the killer had used a VAL silenced assault rifle which is standard equipment of special task force units. The dedicated ammunition can puncture bullet-proof vests of 2nd class or a 6mm-thick steel sheet.
The 73-year-old Usoyan, a native of Georgia, was one of the most influential criminal leaders of the past two decades. Media reports said he was an ally of Vyacheslav Ivankov /alias Yaponchik/, another criminal boss assassinated in Moscow in 2009.
